The fashion market in Germany in 2023
For the German fashion market, 2023 was characterized by the multi-crisis of price increases as well as recession, war and climate concerns among consumers. These challenges are reflected in a highly heterogeneous market development. While brick-and-mortar fashion retailers continued to recover losses from the coronavirus period, the online fashion market fell short of expectations and the previous year. Overall, the fashion market was characterized by volatile consumer behavior, which was strongly influenced not least by the capricious weather conditions, as well as a normalization of the general conditions last year. One consequence: a large number of insolvencies in the industry.
